SEEK – Subsidies for Energy Efficiency in Kosovo

The Millennium Challenge Foundation (MCC) of the US-Congress and it’s Millennium Foundation Kosovo (MFK) the implementing entity of the $49 million Threshold Agreement between Kosovo and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), has launched the 12th of November 2019 in Pristina a $ 20.6 Million ‘Project:

SEEK – Subsidies for Energy Efficiency in Kosovo. The project will be implemented by a consortium of German & French companies GFA Consulting Group GmbH and HPC International (Member of INOGEN).

This project seeks to help over 2600 houses and apartment buildings to be retrofitted for better energy efficiency and helps the government establish a more sustainable system of subsidies that doesn’t overspend tax payers budget.

USAID Administrator - Ambassador and US-Congressman Mark Green, who also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of MCC participated in the launch event. Several Ministers from the Kosovo Government were also present at this event. Participants were also welcomed by MFK implementing partners from the GFA-HPC Consortium, Dr. Daniel Wahby, the GFA Head of Climate and Energy Cluster, and Dr. Frank Karg, the CEO of HPC International.

The partners emphasized the commitment of the consortium to implement the SEEK Project to the full satisfaction of all stakeholders and to the benefit of the Republic of Kosovo and its citizens.

Other HPC International (INOGEN) members present at this event were Mr. Ali Ahmeti, Mrs. Lucie Robin-Vigneron and Mrs. Edona Sadriu.

SEEK is part of a larger “Reliable Energy Landscape Project” (RELP) project implemented by the MFK with the support of the GFA/HPC Consortium as Implementing Consultant.  The project’s overarching objective is to reduce the gap between energy demand and supply, by lowering energy use through piloting household investments in energy efficiency, switching to cost‐effective non‐electricity sources of heating, and reducing barriers to independent power producer (“IPP”) entrants to the market.
