Toxicological risk assessment

Soil/groundwater – building/air – industrial products

Scorpio or libra?

You should keep your hands off a scorpio. This is common knowledge provided by any book on astrology. Unfortunately, in the case of contaminated soil or even real estate, mostly you can’t tell just by looking how dangerous it is. We determine the toxicological risk and evaluate it on the basis of legally specified limit values. No astrology, for sure.

Robert-Bosch-GmbH

True – since the beginning of the 17th century, it’s all water under the bridge of the Havel, directly along the Robert Bosch GmbH site in Berlin’s district of Spandau. For 300 years, ammunition had been produced on the site before Bosch started the production of broad-band cables, car antennae, radio transmitters etc. But also this is all history now – production has been discontinued, the eight-hectares area and its twelve protected buildings have been put up for sale...

Service Information

Task:

  • Expert assessment of health hazards due to contaminant loads in water, soil, air, waste, building materials, real property, food and industrial products on a toxicological basis
  • Inferring of required measures and recommendations for action in individual cases (e.g. house garden, apartment, contaminated sites)

Our services:

  • Substance-specific data investigation as well as conception and performance of object-specific contaminant tests
  • Determination of relevant ways of exposure and quantitative assessment of the potential exposure to contaminants (in a contaminant- and utilization-specific way)
  • Human toxicity assessment of the potential health hazards in individual cases (including inference of test values)
  • Objective and understandable decision-making regarding required action in a case in hand
  • Recommendations for action depending on the sensitivity of use (admissible use as envisioned by the planning)
  • Object-specific inference of calculated measures and remediation targets including cost estimation

Your benefits:

  • Objective and understandable assessment of health hazards
  • Realistic cost estimation and object-specific optimizing of rehabilitation costs
  • Risk reduction (liability, credits, real property transfer)
  • Transparency of the cost-benefit ratios of different remediation levels
