What we passed the time with

HPC acquired the engineering company Beckel GmbH in Übersee am Chiemsee.

2011

In the sommer of 2011, the Women's World Cup rised, which was the sporting highlight of the new year. With the surport of the fans and depending on the superstars Birgit Prinz und Inka Grings, the ladies of German Soccer Federation won the third place in the end.

HPC restarted the branch office in Italy.

2010

Karstadt, GM and the German job market: they experienced a "wonderful" year.

Merger between HPC and the engineering firm Dr. Eisele.

2008

Just like 2007, the temperatures in January are far too high, lying 3.5 degrees above the average. The same pattern as in 2007: almost no sunshine, much rain, temperatures up to 15 degrees and winter storms. Farmers face heavy problems in cultivating their soaked fields.

The publication of the Fourth World Climate Report led to a worldwide rethinking of climate protection policies. Al Gore and the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change win the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to establish and spread more knowledge on climate change caused by man.

2006

Germany was host of the 18th FIFA World Cup. The tournament was won by Italy who defeated France in a penalty shootout and thus claimed its fourth World Cup title. The German team finished third.

2003

The last VW beetle came off the assembly line in Mexican Puebla. After the 21,529,464 beetle, the line has stopped forever.

The unquoted HPC Holding AG is taking over the shares in HPC HARRESS PICKEL CONSULT GMBH from the previous shareholder RWE AG. The shareholders of HPC Holding AG are in all 60 staff members including the management.
Subsequently, HPC HARRESS PICKEL CONSULT GMBH will merge with HPC Holding AG. And what does this produce? Yes, you've already guessed, HPC HARRESS PICKEL CONSULT AG.

2001

A little boy with glasses and magical skills is attracting more people into the cinema that Indiana Jones and Batman together: Harry Potter. And no-one knows why. Neither do we. But when he's grown up, he's welcome to join us.

Establishment of the subsidiaries in Tel Aviv/Israel, Sofia/Bulgaria.

After initial starting difficulties the Expo in Hannover is finally turning into a success: queues are growing, so are financial losses.

Innolab leaves HPC through MBO. Takeover of the GHU, Gesellschaft für Hydrogeologie und Umweltschutz mbH (Ltd.). Purchase of ENSR UK, Manchester.

HPC is sold to RWE.

Integration of the GEO Control group into HPC GmbH.

1997

The reigning chess world champion Kasparov competes against a chess program installed on the IBM supercomputer "Deep Blue", plays even worse than the computer and loses.

SAN and HUT Umwelttechnik GmbH are merged forming the Haniel Umwelttechnik GmbH. Establishment of the branch office in Milan/Italy.

1995

The US $ reaches its historical low of DM 1.34. After repeated rescheduling Microsoft starts the worldwide marketing of its operating system "Windows 95".

HUT Umwelttechnik GmbH (Ltd.), Waldorf is purchased. Establishment of the branch office in Bilbao/Spain. Laboratory activities are hived off by forming the "Innolab GmbH" (Ltd.).

1994

Leading by a margin of just one point, Michael Schumacher is the first German ever to win the Formula One Championship.

Formation of the HPC Envirotec S.A. Maison-Alfort in France.

1991

In the Ötztal the mummified corpse of a Bronze Age man is found in the glacier water of the Similaun glacier that lived 5,300 years ago.

100% parent company is Haniel Umweltschutz GmbH (Ltd.). Merger of the two companies Pickel and Harreß forming the HPC HARRESS PICKEL CONSULT GMBH (Ltd.). Establishment of the branch office in Merseburg coinciding with the implementation of economic and monetary union in Germany. Formation of the SAN

1990

Dr. Harreß has had enough of business life. Dr Harreß: "I'm going to Portugal." Though he was known to be an enthusiastic hiker, nobody ever expected him to put deeds to his words...

50% were taken over by Haniel Umweltschutz GmbH (Ltd.). Establishment of the first branch offices starting in Duisburg, Berlin, Frankfurt.

1986

The speed record for bicycles is pushed to 105,4 km/h.

Takeover of Müller's office by Dr. Harreß, Dr. Hurler and renaming it Geotechnisches Büro Dr. Harreß, Dr. Hurler.

1980

The Swedish tennis player Björn Borg wins the Wimbledon Championship for the fifth time in succession.

1977

Prof. Pickel receives a phone call by the American artist Walter de Maria. He tells him about his vision of an earth kilometre. On the occasion of Documenta VI he intends to sink a 4-cm-thick brass rod 1 kilometre deep into the earth. Is this possible? Prof. Pickel is slightly put off and first asks for a money order to the amount of $ 10,000 and a flight ticket. Two hours later the money is remitted and the ticket is lying on the table. Now it is possible. HPC drills the hole, sinks the brass rod into it and de Maria is rising to fame. Today the earth kilometre in Kassel figures among the most important works of land art.
